Back Office go-live in Finland

As of 17 November 2014, the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) has started managing its national and international trade marks with the new Back Office system developed under the framework of the Cooperation Fund. PRH is the first Office with a full go-live with the tool, which is the largest project of the Cooperation Fund.

The implementation is the result of more than two years of team work among the two pilot Offices (Finnish and Polish IP Offices) and OHIM. The Polish IP Office is very close to the full deployment of the system.

    • The Back Office system supports the management of trade marks and designs lifecycle by IP Offices, including the following procedures:
    • Registration
    • Opposition/Cancellation/Invalidity
    • Recordals
    • Appeals
    • International Registration
    • International Application (trade marks only)

Apart from the two pilot offices, 10 more European IP Offices have expressed their intention to implement Back Office during 2015.
