The Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria awarded for its educational activities and online services
The Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (BPO) has been awarded the certificate ‘Partner in Education’ for its active involvement in the promotion of intellectual property rights among educational institutions.
The BPO organised train-the-trainer seminars on trade marks and designs for high school teachers across Bulgaria. The seminars were carried out within the framework of the EUIPO’s European Cooperation activities.
The certificate was granted by the non-profit association EUROPEN-PEN International (PEN), which pilots the global network of practice enterprises and ensures the promotion and harmonisation of educational practices.
Best electronic service in 2018
The BPO was also awarded ‘Best electronic service’ in 2018 among Bulgarian institutions for providing a wide range of online services to users. The award was given by the foundation ‘Citizens against bureaucracy’ together with the European Parliament and the European Commission.
Following joint cooperation efforts between the EUIPO and the BPO to enhance their e-filing services, the BPO received 2 886 trade mark applications online in 2018, representing 66 % of all applications. As for industrial design applications, 67 % of all applications were also filed electronically.
These achievements stand out as a step forward within the European Union Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN), as it continues sharing services and experiences for the benefit of its users.
